Magickal Herbs Talk and Booksigning with Jamie Martinez Wood

Herbs are our plant allies, come learn of the multitude of ways they can bring health and harmony to your life.

Join us in welcoming Jamie Martinez Wood, author of the The Wicca Cookbook, The Wicca Herbal and the recently published The Faerie’s Guide to Green Magick From the Garden on Sunday, August 15 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm.

We’ll have snacks featured in her latest book and a short talk about three plant allies: mint, lavender and damiana. She will delve into the mystery, practical, and medicinal applications and then lead a discussion on how discovering and appreciating herbal lore just may augment the herb’s healing potential and your connection to nature.

Special Guest Reader Weekend!

We at The Sacred Well are so pleased to announce the addition of not one, but two new readers to our team. It is a Divine Blessing to offer so much variety and diversity in our divination services and we could not be more excited about it.

So, without further ado, allow us to introduce Iyanifa Fakayode, who will be offering Ife Divination and Laura Kennedy, who is skilled in the art of Hand Analysis.

Special date Saturday, June 12
Iyanifa Fakayode - Ife Divination
30 minutes: $51 / 60 minutes: $101 / 120 minutes: $151

Iyanifa Fakayode is a priest of Ifa and of Obatala, Chief of the White Cloth. She has been a member of Ile Orunmila Oshun since 1990 and serves as Head Diviner.

Fakayode is adept in several forms of Ifa divination including Four Cowry divination, Sixteen Cowry divination (Merindinlogun), and Obi Obata. She is a student of Dafa, the divination system that is used by Ifa initiates. As a student of Ifa and of the Orisha tradition, Fakayode shares her learnings and the teachings of Ifa widely. Her primary focus is on communicating the messages of spirit and the teachings of the elders and ancestors.

Fakayode will also be available during the week on Thursday afternoons from 5:00 until 8:00pm.

Special dates Sunday June 13
and Friday June 18
Laura Kennedy - Hand Analysis

30 minutes: $50 / 60 minutes: $95

Hand Analysis combines ancient tradition with modern research to tell you about your identity at a deep level and to show you how that deep, core identity combines with your outer personality to create the unique person that you are. You will learn your Life Purpose, your Life Lesson, and how to make that lesson your ally instead of your enemy.

Laura has been a full time hand analyst for four years, helping clients to discover and live their life purpose. A former psychotherapist and book editor, she is married and the mother of three grown children.

We fully expect that their reading schedules will book up fast, so make sure to call today at 510.555.9344 to make your appointment.

Love is in the Air at The Sacred Well!

Spring is here! Today, at least, is sunny and flowers are blooming. It's the perfect time to open ourselves up to beauty and love.

Women - if you haven't joined us for Goddess Awakening Services yet, this is the month to start! Rabbit and Iris collaborate each month to create a Sunday service that cleanses and renews our spirits and gets us ready to move forward as our best selves! This month, we are joined by Priestess Tanisha and other dedicated Aphrodite priestesses to affirm our self-love, revel in our beauty and share our joy in life!

Everyone - at 12, the store opens and Priestess Tanisha, North American Keeper of the Sacred Flame of Aphrodite, will be distributing this amazingly powerful gift! How incredible that this practice, like the stories we hear about ancient priestesses of the Goddess, is happening here and now! (Iris is a bit excited about this, can you tell?)

Plus, The Sacred Well is offering 10% off our Love Candles all day! Our very own Rabbit, herself a High Priestess dedicated to Aphrodite will be on hand to bless and dress these candles for you.

So now you know the place to be on Sunday; Goddess Awakening for women starts at 11am, and Aphrodite Tea starts at 12pm. No need to sign up or call ahead, just join us for a LOVE-ly afternoon!

Blessed Be!

Bradford Tilden in concert/reading 2/21

Book Signing and Concert with Bradford Tilden
Sunday, February 21, 4:00-7:00PM
The Sacred Well, 536 Grand Avenue, Oakland, 510-444-9355
$10 suggested donation
http://www.sacredwell.com/calendar/index.html
http://www.crystalmusichealing.com

"Local poet and musician Bradford Tilden will be having a book
signing, and reading from his book of poetry Different Shades of
Desire and Suffering, followed by a healing concert of crystal bowls
and vocal chanting.

The poetry explores the universal themes of love and attraction set
amidst the tumultuous landscapes of a young mind in search of its
authentic identity. The collection of poetry was written between the
ages of 15 and 23, when such issues are at their most poignant.

The live concert to follow is a healing and meditative experience. The
blending of Bradford's voice with the sound of crystal bowls creates a
powerful and transformative experience. The energies he summons with
his spontaneous music range from shamanic to angelic and create a
sacred space where healing and awakening can occur.

Visit www.crystalmusichealing.com for more information about
Bradford's music, his writing, and healing work with sound and
crystals.

Suggested donation of $10 collected during the concert. Copies of the
poetry book and Muse of Aquarius CDs will be available for purchase."

Very Pleased to Announce this Special Event...

Join us for a special presentation and book signing with

Author and Women's Spirituality Scholar

Marguerite Rigoglioso.

Friday, January 29th, 7pm-9pm

Were specialized priestesses of antiquity dedicated to

DIVINE BIRTH as the highest form of spiritual practice?

The Cult of Divine Birth in Ancient Greece by Marguerite Rigoglioso: Book Cover

“Bold, creative, and courageous.” –– Marvin Meyer, The Gospel of Judas

In this presentation, Marguerite Rigoglioso, Ph.D., will discuss material from her groundbreaking new book The Cult of Divine Birth in Ancient Greece, exploring the “rape by gods”and supernatural conception stories from Greek history and myth in a startling new way that places virgin priestesses at the core of Western civilization.

Her careful research makes the case that divine birth was something deliberately attempted by holy women –– an elevated form of spiritual practice considered the only means of bringing avatars and true leaders to incarnation.

This serious scholarly study has tremendous implications for world religions with divine birth claims, including Christianity. It also helps reframe and reclaim the Virgin Mary as a deliberate agent in the conception of Jesus.

For more information on her work, visit http://cultofdivinebirth.com.

Marguerite Rigoglioso, Ph.D., holds a doctorate in humanities and a
master's in philosophy and religion from the California Institute of Integral
Studies (CIIS), as well as a bachelor's degree from Vassar College. She teaches
pioneering courses in women and religion at CIIS, Dominican University,
and the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology.

Refreshed for the New Year!

Haven't been in to The Sacred Well in a few weeks? Well, I strongly encourage a visit!

In addition to adding to our candle selection (including scented Goddess, Moon and HooDoo candles), we have expanded our choices in incense and recently started working with a new jewelry maker! Plus, we've restocked our Tarot card collection!

New styles and new smells are all great, but what may be the most exciting is the new layout of the store! It may not look very different, but the energy flow is much improved! Wider walkways and cleaner displays make it easier to find what you are looking for, and still give us the space to display our favorite ritual items for your perusal.

Rabbit's Tea and Chanting started in December, and will continue on the 4th Tuesdays of each month at 7pm. Rabbit and Iris began hostessing Goddess Awakening services in January, and they will continue on the 1st Sundays of each month at 11am.

Look for more improvements in 2010: more classes, events and in-store concerts, the return of the Healing Share, new Sacred Well Products, and much more we can't tell you about yet! If you have suggestions for products or improvements you'd like to see at The Sacred Well, please use the contact us button you find on our home page.

one more note: We wish all of you the happiest and brightest year, blessed with prosperity, abundance, love and success!
